Our double-shaft plastic shredder machines are heavy-duty, slow-speed, high-torque devices primarily employed for “pre-cutting” large quantities of bulky plastic materials. With its generous intake chute opening, it can efficiently shred entire bales of plastic film and other rigid plastics into small pieces typically ranging between 1 to 5 inches in size.
In most plastic recycling facilities, these smaller plastic pieces are subsequently processed through a plastic granulator machine to yield plastic flakes or regrinds that are less than 1 inch in size.
Thanks to their versatility and robust construction, our double-shaft plastic shredders are utilized across various industries, including but not limited to:
- Rubber recycling
- Metal recycling
- E-waste (electronic waste) or WEEE recycling
- Wood recycling
- Destruction of items for liability concerns, such as sensitive documents, computer storage media like hard disks, x-rays, expired goods, obsolete stock, pharmaceuticals, etc.
- Size reduction in wastewater treatment plants and other municipal applications.
- Pre-cutting of other solids, such as food destruction, pallets, steel and plastic drums, furniture, construction debris, containers, corrugated boxes, packaging, labels, and other bulky materials.
Working Principle
At the heart of our double-shaft plastic shredder machines, heavy-duty shear blades are affixed to two hexagonal shafts that interlock and rotate, creating a cutting/shredding action. These sturdy hooked-style shear blades rotate at low speeds, enabling the shredders to effectively and quietly reduce large pieces and high volumes of feedstock into random, smaller pieces typically ranging from 1 to 5 inches. The slow rotation speed of the rotors also minimizes the generation of dust.
Given that our double-shaft plastic shredder machines are often deployed in front of the most challenging tasks, the frame and structure of our shredders are constructed using high-thickness sheets and tubular components. The shear blades undergo treatment to enhance their strength and durability, crafted from only the highest quality SKD11 steel (equivalent to D2 steel) to resist dulling. Depending on the capacity required, we offer a range of standard double-shaft shredders for selection.
